Charmingo Sews Young Atelier
Charmingo Sews Young Atelier is a project-based sewing and making programme for young
people aged 9–16. Over fourteen Friday evenings, learners design, cut and construct a wide
range of pieces while developing real technical skill in a calm, professional studio
environment.
This is not a basic taster. It is a full term of focused making, guided by experienced tutors, with
materials and refreshments included.
Who it is for
• Young people aged 9–12 or 13–16 who want to learn real sewing and textile skills
• Complete beginners and those with a little experience
• Learners who enjoy making things with their hands and want to leave each week with
something they have created themselves
Two separate sessions run each Friday so that age groups remain appropriate:
• 9–12 years: 5:45 – 7:15 pm
• 13–16 years: 7:15 – 8:45 pm
Across the fourteen weeks, the group will work through a varied collection of projects.
Every project is chosen to introduce new techniques while producing something useful and
satisfying to take home
More than sewing skills
In small groups, learners have the chance to make new friends outside school and build
connections in a calm, creative setting. Sustained making supports focus, patience and a quiet
sense of achievement — all of which contribute to children’s wellbeing and mental health.
