Pet Portrait Workshop with Clivia

Sunday 19 April | 2:00pm – 5:00pm

Join us for a truly special creative session at the Sewing Academy, led by the wonderfully talented arts and textile teacher Clivia.

In this inspiring three-hour workshop, you will learn how to transform a photograph of your beloved pet into a beautiful textile portrait using appliqué and free-motion embroidery.

Working step-by-step, you’ll begin by layering fabric and mixed media to build the base of your design using appliqué techniques. Once your composition is in place, you’ll move on to free-motion embroidery, using expressive stitches and threads to add depth, texture and character. By the end of the session, your pet’s personality will begin to come alive in fabric and stitch.

This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with some sewing experience, and Clivia will guide everyone through the process in a relaxed, supportive environment.

By the end of the afternoon you’ll leave with:

• A unique textile portrait of your pet

• New skills in appliqué and free-motion embroidery

• Creative techniques you can use in future textile projects
