If you’ve ever wanted to make your own clothes but weren’t sure where to begin, this one-day garment-making experience is the perfect place to start. Designed for those with basic sewing skills, this immersive workshop guides you through the full process of creating a custom garment—from first cut to final stitch.
Working in a supportive, hands-on environment, you’ll be guided step-by-step as you bring your chosen piece to life. Whether you decide on a dress, top or simple trousers, you’ll learn how to transform fabric into something truly personal and wearable.
Throughout the day, you’ll develop essential garment-making skills, including how to select and cut a pattern for the best fit, work confidently with woven fabrics, and construct clean, professional seams. You’ll also explore finishing techniques such as hems, fastenings, and garment shaping, along with simple adjustments to improve fit and comfort.
This is more than just a sewing class—it’s an opportunity to understand how garments come together, helping you build the confidence to take on future projects independently. With guidance throughout, you’ll have the space to learn, practise, and refine your technique without feeling rushed.
You’ll be working in a fully equipped studio, with expert support on hand and a welcoming, creative atmosphere that makes the whole experience enjoyable from start to finish.
By the end of the day: You’ll leave not only with a finished garment you can proudly wear, but also with a deeper understanding of the process and the confidence to continue building your handmade wardrobe. You will have experience safely using an overlocker to produce professional hems
Please bring:
2–3 metres of non-stretch fabric in a print or colour you love—cotton or denim, linen or viscose work beautifully for this class.
A curated selection of patterns will be available for you to choose from on the day.
Suitability:
This class is ideal for those who have completed our Intro to Sewing course or feel confident setting up and using a sewing machine independently, as we’ll be focusing on construction rather than machine basics.
And of course, tea, coffee and cake are included—because a full day of creativity should feel as enjoyable as it is rewarding.
