Dress a Girl Around the World, Sewing Weekend
Join us on Saturday 29th or Sunday 30th August, 12pm to 7pm, to help make simple dresses and shorts for children living in poverty overseas.
“For over a year I've wanted to run a day where we come together as a community and make something that genuinely changes a child's life. “
We're finally doing it.
In aid of Dress A Girl Around the world
No major sewing skills required, just the ability to sew a straight seam to a basic standard. We'll be using simple construction methods, using no zips or zips or buttons, and there'll be demonstrations throughout the day, including on the overlocker to finish your seams.
Bring your own machine if you'd like, or use one of ours. All fabric needed will be supplied, and if you have spare fabric at home you'd like to bring along to use, or donate for someone else to use, that's very welcome too. Stay for as long as suits you, whether that's the full six hours or just an hour.
Not confident with a machine but keen to help? We'd love your hands for cutting fabric and general support on the day.
There's a donation box on site. £2 to £5 helps us cover the cost of posting the finished dresses to their final destination.
(Below are examples of the dresses we will make)
Please book below to let us know you're coming.
Thank you for being kind enough to donate your free time to helping ensure children around the world experience the gift of receiving new clothes.
